About Us
Bridget Shahan has been an energy attorney for 19 years; practicing both electric and
natural gas regulatory and transactional law as in-house counsel twice and outside
counsel twice. She has been a partner at CMS Cameron McKenna, a London based
international law firm, and Chief Compliance Officer of Nicor Inc. outside
Chicago, IL. She was also an associate at Jenner & Block in Washington, D.C.
She began her legal career as in-house counsel for a gas utility during Order No.
636, the restructuring of the natural gas industry; then began practicing electric
regulatory law as counsel to the California Independent System Operator during Order
No. 888, the electric industry restructuring. She has represented the Energy
Regulatory Commission of Mexico (“CRE”), the Government of Gambia, natural gas
distribution companies, natural gas pipelines, gas and electric marketers, electric
transmission companies and electric independent system operators before state and
federal regulatory agencies; as well as in transactional matters.
As a regulatory compliance consultant, Bridget assesses client business models,
regulated activities, policies, procedures and controls, then prepares a regulatory
compliance program and implementation plan incorporating the most recent orders, rules
and regulations; as well as provides best practices, audits and training. Bridget
also speaks at compliance conferences, including for the American Gas Association
and Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics.
